Respect The Choices Women Made

Respect The Choices Women Made

This article is part of the #ChooseToChallenge Campaign by Hashnode.

We have seen the world come a long way from restricting women to home boundaries to let them work and extend their boundaries. Now we find women working in every field but not as equally as men.

Things might have changed a little, but there is still a long way to go. I believe what has not changed yet is not respecting women's choices and not considering them as equally important as men.

We all know women still do more household work than men even if they pursue their respective careers. People nowadays may have open ways for women to choose a job but have also put one thing in their mind that even if you work or not, one thing that is not going to change is more women's responsibility for household chores than men's.

If a man is involved in household chores, then it's okay, and if not, then it's alright, but if a woman expresses the choice of not involving, she is looked down upon.

On the other hand, I used to believe that if women are not taking up any career, they are spoiling the money invested in them. But with time and meeting different kinds of other women, I realized that everyone is different and comes with different sorts of dreams.

Women have always been restricted in terms of what we can do, how we should talk, dress, and even think. Today, when we are talking about equality for women, one should also respect their choices and not control them.

Whether to take up a career or just being involved in household chores should be a choice, not a compulsion.

With this initiative of Hashnode on International Women's Day, I #ChooseToChallenge the mindset which does not respect the choices made by women.

The way I have explored and changed my thoughts, I am sure many people out there also want to do the same. So take up this challenge and lend your voices to stand for bringing a change.
